Adventures in Remodeling

  I finally got the three paint samples on walls this weekend.  One I liked much more than the other two ... The first three are two different colors, and to be honest, I could not tell them apart; which is why there are three.  My favorite is numbers 4 and 5.  It's a much warmer, creamier color. I'll start with the paneled walls and go from there. While I was looking at walls, I took a look at the bathroom and kitchen and found that the wall covering used is even worse than I thought. It's some kind of textured vinyl that was put on very badly. What you don't see in the pictures is the wrinkles from where it was originally put up.  How they lived with it for so many years I have no clue - the wrinkles would have bugged me beyond belief. I have no idea how to even remove it; so, it looks like the kitchen and bathroom will be getting more of a face lift than I had planned.   One more surprise in the kitchen Hard to tell, but the drawer does not open or ...

 When I went to Tennessee for a week, the place I stayed was a lovely little apartment that had been the hay loft of a barn. It was a great place to unwind. The owner had a nightlight in the bathroom that gave me some inspiration: Is that not the cutest thing?  It makes me giggle. And, the middle mushroom changes colors! I really do think everyone needs one of these. So I decided that the cabin needs to be somewhat whimsical, both inside and out.  I've got some ideas for the yard, but not sure what to do inside. For instance, I want to put this guy over my septic tank: More to come as I get better ideas. Feel free to comment on ideas  - the more the merrier.
