Adventures in Remodeling

 I  am in the midst of planning a desk. I actually have most of the parts already, but I've been struggling with what to do for the top. I had originally planned to do 3/4 inch plywood doubled, but that didn't do much for me as far as aesthetics were concerned.  I finally found this: And I really, REALLY like it. I think I'll do a better job on the trim; that looks pretty crappy to me; but the diamond pattern will be really cool, I think. I should have the base of the desk built over Christmas week; then I'll plan out the pattern and start cutting up 2x2s. There will be pictures when all is said and done.

 I had hoped to be so much farther along with the renovations I want to make to the cabin.  I have becoming a bit disheartened when I look at the lack of progress.  Then I remember that I'm only one person; I have to work for a living; and without being here full time, it's hard to get a lot done at any given time. That said, there have been some small things done New TV and console put together and set up New lamps  Internet access tested and found successful New cat tree set up Refrigerator, freezer and washer / dryer combo installed Now that I know I can work here, I'll get the office painted and my desk built; I foresee spending a week at a time here getting work done when I'm not working.

 I had to replace the existing fridge; at the same time, I ordered a freezer and a washer / dryer combo since there was no way to wash clothing at the cabin. The washer / dryer will go in the bathroom, but the panels where the water hookups are have these instead of regular screws  I had no idea what they were called! Asked one of the reno groups in FB land and was told they take a clutch bit. I've never heard of it - but I have the picture on my phone. Since I now know what color is going on the wall, I'll pick one of these up when I get the first gallon of paint - and tray, and rollers, and and and .....
