Odds and ends

 I had to replace the existing fridge; at the same time, I ordered a freezer and a washer / dryer combo since there was no way to wash clothing at the cabin. The washer / dryer will go in the bathroom, but the panels where the water hookups are have these instead of regular screws



 I had no idea what they were called! Asked one of the reno groups in FB land and was told they take a clutch bit. I've never heard of it - but I have the picture on my phone. Since I now know what color is going on the wall, I'll pick one of these up when I get the first gallon of paint - and tray, and rollers, and and and .....

Once upon a time .... my adventures in remodeling

 A little girl bought a house. Well, not so little. Girl, or house. True story! I bought a piece of property last month that has a wonderful little mobile home on it, with a full-length addition.  The addition had been used as a school house for the county; somehow the previous owner (hereafter known as Mr. B) purchased and added it to the mobile.  It just about tripled the living space. The mobile portion was built in 1972 or thereabouts.  A tiny kitchen / living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.   This blog will be a record of my adventures in remodeling. I hope. Almost burned the house down!

 And I am NOT kidding! I was up at the cabin, supposedly for a week, to clean up the place before the contractors came to do the bathroom and flooring. I turned on the heat pump, and then decided to turn on the heater in the bathroom to warm it up a bit.  A few hours later, I lost power to the cabin.  I first thought that it was an outage, but the power company called to let me know that there was plenty of power coming to the pole. So, I had an electrician come out and he determined the following: 1. I had two 100 amp services going to each side of the building, but 2. I only had 100 amps coming into the main panel. All of this means I needed to upgrade to 200amp services as soon as could be done. I did do some investigation and the cost would range between $2500 to $5000 to upgrade the service. I got a quote, which I agreed to (I mean, whaddyagonnado!) and waited to hear when things would start rolling. Turns out, I had to call the power company to turn power off, at wh...

I can't wait!

 I am so excited!  I just dropped two chairs off to be reupholstered.  https://www.reclamationupholstery.com/  Teresa, the owner, is very talented and down to earth.  We had a great time chatting when I dropped the chairs off.   I'm really looking forward to seeing them all done. The cushions on this chair are totally shot.  Not surprising, given the age of the chair. the frame is good, arms are a little loose, but she told me they could be fixed with no problem. It's going to be recovered with this:      I just love the color. This one is a rocker, and it swivels.  I love it. But that fabric has GOT to go! For this one I chose a stripy pattern: There is a matching sofa and chair that I was contemplating getting rid of; but I think I've been talked into keeping them and getting them redone as well.  That will be next year!
