First things first! Or, priorities in remodeling

I realized when I stepped inside for the first time that the old, original carpeting has to go.  That stuff is nasty. Mr. B showed me where he had pulled up one of the floor vent covers and was able to push the underlayment around. It's completely shot.

Since I also want to paint the paneling rather than go through the hassle of replacing it all, I'll paint first. If I get paint on that carpet I will not care.

The carpet in the schoolhouse side also needs to be removed.  It appears to have been glued along the edges, but not installed with carpet tacks.

The thought for now is to use LVP throughout. It should go over the old linoleum and peel and stick that Mr. B put in the kitchen.

I really like this flooring, at least from what I can see online.  There is a lumber liquidators store near the cabin.  Stopping in to see it in person is on the list. I suspect I 'll be leaving with boxes of flooring in the bed of the truck.  Talk about some impetus to get the carpet up and the walls painted.

Speaking of which, I've been looking at wall colors - I had no idea there were so many choices. It really can be daunting to make a selection. Wow. I had been thinking of some kind of grey, but decided I'm better with something a little lighter. I picked up samples of three different colors; I'll post some pictures this weekend when I've had a chance to do a little painting.
